Firefighters and forestry officials found some good news in the rubble of this summer's Angora Fire and are now finding hope amid the ashes borne of the flames from the Butler II blaze.

The good news: A detailed study of the Angora burn site showed conclusively the tactics devised by the Mountain Area Safety Taskforce (MAST) to reduce the fire hazard in the San Bernardino Mountains works.

And the hope: Those results combined with successes fighting the Bulter II Fire will convince more area residents they can help save life and property by getting busy clearing the area around their own home, as recommended by MAST and required by law.
