SCS Engineers to Speak at SWANA's 33rd Annual Landfill Gas Conference in
San Diego, CA

Four experts from environmental engineering firm offer insights on the impact of federal climate change legislation and regulation on the solid waste industry  

San Diego, Calif., March 4, 2010—Four experts from SCS Engineers, an award-winning, employee-owned environmental engineering and construction firm, will speak at the Solid Waste Association of North America’s (SWANA) 33rd annual Landfill Gas (LFG) Conference in San Diego, California, March 9-10, 2010. 

Speakers from SCS include Pete Carrico, Vice President of SCS Field Services; Jim Michelsen, Project Director; Patrick Sullivan, Senior Vice President of SCS Engineers; and Scott Messier, Project Manager of SCS Field Services. 

Carrico will speak in the opening session with his presentation focused on the impact of federal climate change legislation and regulation on the solid waste industry.  The information is derived from research and a paper he developed for the industry. Michelsen will also speak on Tuesday. His session focuses on methane offset projects.

Wednesday’s presentations by Sullivan and Messier highlight regulatory developments and gas collection and controls respectively.

The SWANA LFG Conference takes place at the Town and Country Resort in San Diego, from March 8-11, 2010.  The conference takes an in-depth look at beneficial use, methane offset projects, available credits including tax and carbon, greenhouse gas issues and legislative and regulatory developments.  This focus provides participants with the information and resources they need to expand and improve the sustainability and economic performance of their landfill gas projects.
