San Diego activists will be sleeping outside this weekend to help raise awareness and funds to curb homelessness in the region.
The event will also serve to raise funds for the San Diego Rescue Mission's programs to help the homeless re-enter society. Organizers hope this will become an annual event. Sleepers have secured a minimum $40 in pledges.
The sleep-out begins at 7 p.m. Saturday and will end at 8 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Third Avenue and B Street at the San Diego Community Concourse. The event will feature live music and the Will Smith movie "The Pursuit of Happyness."
Scheduled guests include Mayor Jerry Sanders, KUSI anchor Kimberly Hunt and Miles McPherson of the Rock Church.
