When the San Diego Rescue Mission needed 400 extra cots for its upcoming Sleepless in San Diego fundraiser, it knew whom to call. The Salvation Army, which provides temporary shelter in disasters, agreed to lend the group 400 cots stored in a Long Beach warehouse. College students and church groups will sleep in front of City Hall on Saturday night to get a taste of homelessness. They'll also assemble care packages for the homeless.
