On September 17th, Ocean Discovery Institute and Friends Will Celebrate
at Their Annual Bubble Up! Gala
CARLSBAD, Calif.- Ocean Discovery Institute will celebrate its accomplishments and plans for growth at their annual Bubble Up! gala at La Costa Resort and Spa. The black-tie affair will provide critical support for its programs and students and features an exciting live auction, opportunity drawing, student activities, delectable food, and extraordinary libation throughout the evening.
“We are thrilled to share our organization’s vision and long-term commitment to improving our region. The funds produced at Bubble Up! will generate the spark that makes young people want to learn, paving the way for more than 5,000 local youth to gain knowledge and understanding of the sciences and nature and prepare these young people to become our future scientific and environmental leaders,” explained founder and Executive Director, Shara Fisler.
This exclusive event engages guests in competitions to win fabulous prizes while raising funds that help empower students. “I feel very fortunate to have benefitted from Ocean Discovery Institute’s programs. As a UC Berkeley graduate, I am incredibly excited to be planning a portion of this event that support so many other people like me,” said recent college graduate Claudia Rodriguez, who started this summer as an Ocean Discovery Institute Fellow.
Attendees will include 300 leaders from the San Diego business, philanthropic, and scientific communities. “As the chair for this year’s Bubble Up!, we’re excited to transform the gala into a trendsetting event that will add an element of surprise through greater exposure to Ocean Discoveries students and activities that make people want to get involved. You will see how Ocean Discovery Institute generates the spark that makes young people want to learn-empowering them to transform their lives-through science. And you will be impressed by the future that is Ocean Discovery Institute," said Vincy Dunmire of San Diego.
All proceeds from the evening’s festivities will fund tuition-free programs, which aim to engage, educate, and inspire youth from urban and diverse backgrounds through science-based exploration of the ocean and nature, preparing them to be tomorrow’s scientific and environmental leaders. Founded in 1999, Ocean Discovery Institute’s vision is to empower urban and diverse youth to protect our ocean and natural environment, improve the health of our communities, and strengthen the quality of life in our world.
