Why:
San Diego Coastkeeper is hosting the 4th Annual Walk the Watershed this Saturday to engage community members with a hands-on learning experience restoring and protecting the Pueblo Watershed, the smallest and most densely populated of the county’s watersheds. City Councilman Tony Young will be in attendance at this free event in Swan Canyon, which concludes with a celebration for participants.
The Pueblo Watershed, which drains into the San Diego Bay, serves Lemon Grove, National City, downtown San Diego and Point Loma. Participants will walk a path beginning at Hamilton Elementary School and pass educational stations along the way to learn about topics related to preserving the county’s rich natural environment, ranging from water quality monitoring to recycling.
Since 1995, San Diego Coastkeeper has been protecting the region’s inland and coastal waters for the communities and wildlife that depend on them by blending education, community empowerment and advocacy. For more information, visit http://www.sdcoastkeeper.org.
