Cook + Schmid Chosen to Direct Public Relations for Sequenta, Inc.
Firm to develop and manage strategic communications for San Francisco biotech company
SAN DIEGO—Cook + Schmid, a full-service public relations, public affairs, advertising and marketing firm, has been selected by Sequenta Inc., a San Francisco-based biotech company dedicated to the discovery and development of novel clinical diagnostics, to manage strategic communications for the firm.
Cook + Schmid will plan and implement a comprehensive public relations, media relations and social media relations campaign to build awareness of Sequenta’s platform for molecular diagnostic assays. Sequenta’s technology is based on a proprietary next-generation sequencing approach to the profiling of T and B immune-cell receptor repertoires. Cook + Schmid will also support Sequenta at events and conferences to raise awareness and amplify media coverage.
Sequenta presented five posters at the American Society of Hematology annual conference in San Diego in early December 2011. The posters showed the results from several studies demonstrating the sensitivity and specificity of the company’s Immune Cell Receptor Sequencing (ICRS) platform in detecting Minimal Residual Disease (MRD). Conducted in collaboration with Stanford University and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the studies also demonstrated the ICRS’s ability to predict clinical relapse for several types of cancer, including childhood and adult Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), Chronic Lymphoblastic Leukemia (CLL) and Mantle Cell Lymphoma (MCL).
