COOK & SCHMID AMONG TOP 25 MINORITY-OWNED BUSINESSES IN SAN DIEGO
SAN DIEGO, CALIF.—Cook & Schmid, a public relations, advertising and marketing firm, was ranked among the region’s top minority-owned companies in the San Diego Business Journal’s inaugural list of minority-owned businesses.
Cook & Schmid ranked 18th among self-reporting, minority-owned businesses, based on 2007 gross revenue, and 14th among firms with official minority-owned certification in the list published November 3.
Cook & Schmid is certified as a Minority Business Enterprise by the National Minority SupplierDevelopment Council and the Supplier Clearinghouse for the Utility Supplier Diversity Program of the California Public Utilities Commission. Cook & Schmid is also registered as a Small Disadvantaged Business by the Small Business Administration.
The agency is the only firm on the list in the public relations and advertising category for 2008.

The firm also won the Silver Bernays Award of Merit and Bronze Bernays Award of Excellence in 2008 from the San Diego chapter of the PRSA..
An MBE is a business designation indicating that the company is at least 51percent owned and controlled by one or more minority persons. A minority is generally defined as an individual who is African American, Hispanic American, Asian American, Native American, a woman or a disabled person.
