Dana Springs is a management executive with more than 20 years of experience directing policy and operations to advance creative-industry businesses in Southern California. She served as the Mayor-appointed Executive Director of the City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture from 2012-2018 where she scaled the agency’s annual operations from $9M to $15M. In earlier positions, she led the competitive procurement of contractors and the design and construction of public art within more than 25 capital improvement projects. Select projects include North Embarcadero waterfront redevelopment, Central Library and Horton Plaza Park. Her collaborations with San Diego’s diverse communities to represent values, beliefs, and cultures through public art informs Cook + Schmid’s community outreach initiatives. Springs is charged with growing Cook + Schmid’s government contracting unit, evolving the company’s brand, and enriching the client experience. She holds a BA in visual art from University of California, San Diego.
